Over July and August the Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare (the Centre) will host its inaugural Connecting Communities Tour, passing through Ballarat, Mildura, Shepparton, Morwell and Geelong.
The tour is a chance for the Centre to connect with members in the regions, and to gain a better understanding of the unique challenges and opportunities children, young people, and families are facing in regional communities.
Along with meeting with our members, the Centre will also be engaging with local government representatives, community leaders, and child and family services workers.
The tour will be one of the Centre’s first in-person member events since the start of the pandemic, made possible by high vaccination rates that enable us to host the in-person tour safely. The Centre is greatly looking forward to engaging with our members face to face.
Deb Tsorbaris, CEO at the Centre said: “The Connecting Communities Tour is an exciting opportunity for us to hear from the people on the ground about the things affecting them, the people they serve, and the sector. Membership engagement is our bread and butter because it tells us what we need to be doing in terms of advocacy, government relations work, and support.
“The Centre has not had many opportunities to engage with our members in person since the start of the pandemic, as we have shifted online to protect our staff, members, and the community. We welcome anyone involved in the sector and allied sectors to come along and talk to us and to each other.”
The tour will be taking place on the following dates:
- 11 July – Ballarat
- 15 July – Mildura
- 26 July – Morwell
- 28 July – Shepparton
- 5 August – Geelong
