Digging Deeper: Coaching practices for practitioners working in complex and challenging environments
Tuesday September 27, 2022, 10:00 am - Wednesday September 28, 2022, 4:00 pm
DIGGING DEEPER is a virtual two-day workshop
Course Overview
The contexts and settings that social workers, youth workers and community workers operate in can often be very challenging and confronting environments. However, for the people caught in these systems and cycles of disadvantage, it can be hard to see a way out. Harder still, to believe that they have the power within themselves to break those cycles.
Using real life case studies that demonstrate how coaching has been effective in demanding personal and professional contexts, Digging Deeper explores the benefits of relational coaching and self-determination practices.
Digging Deeper is a two-part workshop delivered over two consecutive days.
Learning Outcomes
You will learn a practical strengths-based approach: ask your clients questions that ‘dig deep’ and nurture self-awareness and healthy ways to explore personal responsibility. Activate positive decision-making that energises self-determination, aspiration and hope… one conversation at a time. Digging Deeper provides social workers and youth workers with the skills and confidence to facilitate coaching conversations with clients that will provide with the skills to:
Think like a coach: Dig deep, action & develop intrinsic motivation in the people you work with.
Ask the right questions that cut through the mess and ignite engagement, introspective thinking and self-determination.
Actively listen to, recognise and respond to complex conversations.
Set effective goals that promote pathway thinking, tackle obstacles that can get in the way and inspire action.
Strengthen ‘the process’ through utilising our coaching toolkit. A comprehensive set of tools aimed at helping others build support structures around their self-determination.
The Digging Deeper is a practical workshop facilitated by experienced trainer, practitioner and coach Shayne Hood, who will provide you with the opportunity to practice and build your coaching skills so you can apply them with clients straight away!
