Voices for Change: Evidence and Innovation in Supporting Children Experiencing Family Violence
Thursday June 27, 1:00 pm - 2:30 pm
The Centre, in partnership with No to Violence, Safe and Equal, and Sexual Assault Services Victoria, is working to support better outcomes for family violence and sexual violence service users and family service providers. This project will strengthen practice, identify data gaps and build an evidence base in this sector. As part of the collaboration project, OPEN will be facilitating a series of online events.
The first event of the series will feature two presentations and provide evidence from children and young people who have experiences of the family violence service system. Additionally, this event will launch a resource designed to empower family violence professionals in the child and family services sector.
The session will include:
- Presentation on the Children’s Voice for Change research project – Dr Georginia Dimopoulos, Senior Lecturer, Law, Southern Cross University will discuss key findings and insights exploring children’s experiences of family violence services and key areas for improvement, followed by a Panel discussion with the young people who participated as co-researchers and lived experience experts in this project
- Launch of the Good Practice case studies designed to support family violence professionals in the child and family services sector in their implementation of the MARAM Framework, followed by a practice focussed Q&A with Stephanie O’Mally, Family Services Practitioner at Upper Murray Family Care who will provide on the ground perspective on why MARAM is important in supporting children with an experience of family violence.
This OPEN event will be valuable to those working in the family violence and sexual violence services area as well as policy makers and researchers.
