OPEN’s New Spotlight Collection

OPEN is dedicated to improving the evidence base for policy and practice within Victoria’s child and family services sector. By providing access to the best available evidence, OPEN helps professionals improve outcomes for children and families. One key tool in achieving this mission is OPEN’S new Spotlight collection, a curated series of resources designed to support practitioners in specific areas of their work.

The spotlight collection has been informed by the sector, for the sector.

What Are Spotlights?

Spotlights offer a focused selection of content on key topics within the child and family services sector. Spotlights provide a streamlined, curated collection focused on a particular issue or area of practice. OPEN has gathered the best resources from leading voices and organisations across the sector to ensure access to the most relevant and impactful tools available that are easy to navigate.

By distilling the vast amount of information available in the sector into a focused resource, the Spotlight collection makes it easier for practitioners to access and apply evidence-based practices: crucial in a field where staying informed with the latest research and best practices can significantly impact the quality of care provided.

Spotlight on…

OPEN’s Spotlight on Trauma-Informed Care is a comprehensive resource designed to support those working with children and families affected by trauma. It brings together a wealth of resources, including research, webinars, training opportunities, case studies, and more, all curated to improve trauma-informed service delivery.

The Spotlight on Out-of-Home Care allows practitioners to easily navigate and access key information relevant to placement stability, education, health, and wellbeing. The Spotlight provides the latest research, practice guides, webinars, and case studies focused on improving outcomes for children in care. The Spotlight collection has resources for those working with foster and kinship carers, in residential care, or supporting care leavers, spanning topics such as placement stability, education, and health and wellbeing.

As OPEN continues to expand its offerings, these Spotlights will play a crucial role in supporting high-quality service delivery and better outcomes for children and families.
