Coverage of Hayley inquest continues in Thursday media update

Calls for church abuse inquiry lead Friday media update

Today’s media update leads with calls for an independent inquiry into child abuse by clergy in the Catholic church in Victoria. The calls follow the recent extension of the reporting deadline for the Protecting Victoria’s Vulnerable Children Inquiry (late Jan. 2012), and reports that the Inquiry may examine aspects of abuse within religious organisations.

VCAT decision on working with children leads Thursday media update

Today’s media update leads with a contentious VCAT decision on working with children regarding an adult who, as a child, was placed on probation without conviction and ordered to undertake a sex offender treatment program.
