Open Forum: Trauma-Informed Insights: Integrating Evidence and Trauma-Informed Practice in Developing Uniting’s Therapeutic Model of Care

Thursday July 25, 12:30 pm - 2:00 pm

Join OPEN and facilitators from Uniting Vic.Tas, for an insightful OPEN Forum on the development of Uniting’s Therapeutic Model of Care for Working with Children, Young People, and Families (TMoC).

This model represents Uniting’s commitment to fostering a workplace culture and practices that are evidence-informed and recognise the profound impact of complex trauma on clients, families, the workforce, and organisations. The model aims to support the workforce in feeling confident and competent in their practice, building on existing strengths and creating opportunities to stay current and effective in the way Uniting delivers services.

During this Forum, Tymur Hussein and Claire Stanley will explain the methodology Uniting used to create the TMoC. Uniting will emphasise the evidence-informed practice and trauma-informed principles that guide decision-making and are designed to be integrated into Uniting’s organisational culture. Uniting developed the model based on key principles and sources of evidence, including:

  • Research evidence
  • Practitioner knowledge and skill
  • Child and family knowledge, preferences, and values
  • Participatory approaches that were collaborative, iterative and promoted safety

This online OPEN Forum is relevant to practitioners, program managers and those in leadership seeking to understand the therapeutic model, and its development and implementation across an organisation.

This is OPEN’s third event in the Trauma-informed Insight Series. Watch the recordings of the previous events here.
