The Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare advocates on behalf of vulnerable children, families and young people across Victoria.
Our vision is that all Victorian children, young people and families are safe, happy and connected, with access to support when they need it.
We believe in dignity, equality, fairness, and respect for all.
Our member organisations work directly with the LGBTIQ community, and the research shows that LGBTIQ young people are one of the most marginalised groups in Australia.
They are five times more likely to attempt suicide, and twice as likely to be vulnerable to mental health disorders.
National mental health support service ReachOut has seen a 20 per cent increase in LGBTI people seeking support since the postal survey began.
We are committed to supporting decisions that are in the best interests of those we advocate for, and believe that equal rights will encourage safe and respectful environments.
It is for this reason that the Centre for Excellence in Child and Family Welfare supports the Yes vote for marriage equality.
