Tasmania’s Children’s Commissioner is asking children and young people across Tasmania what is needed to make sure they have a good life, asking young people to send a postcard to inform the Commissions response to draft legislation.
The Government is currently consulting on draft legislation to establish a new statutory Commission for Children and Young People (new Commission) with all the powers and resources necessary to perform an expanded range of functions on behalf of children and young people in Tasmania.
Interim Commissioner for Children and Young People (Tas) Isabelle Crompton is preparing a response to the draft Bill that will inform this once-in-a-generation opportunity to create a new nation-leading, children’s oversight body for Tasmania, engaging with children and young people across Tasmania to learn about what they want from their new Commission.
“We want to hear from children about their views and ideas for how this new team should work and we will make sure the Government knows what you have to say,” the Commission says on it’sWe are asking children and young people to respond to the prompt: Imagine it’s your job to stand up for children and young people like you in Tasmania. What do you need to know and do to make sure they have a good life?
